It has been a while since I posted here. I figured I should start with a brief update on where things stand and what has kept me busy the last two months.
  • Grants submitted. Need I say more?
  • Finalizing Lab Reorganization: This spring we reorganized the lab and made many, many changes to our processes and to our science. Things have settled down and we found into a great rhythm of scientific discoveries and collaborations. I cannot overstate the importance of having well-defined processes in the lab, ideally in the form of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • In the Frohlich Lab, we have concluded two clinical trials of tACS, one in schizophrenia and one in depression. We are working on the data analysis and on manuscript preparation. I am looking forward to sharing the results with you. Catch me at one of my upcoming talks to get a first look at where things stand. All I can tell you is that we are inspired and very hopeful about the therapeutic potential of tACS. But then remember, our studies are first of their kind, small pilot studies. More science and larger studies are urgently needed.
  • We have started to venture into the neuroscience of music, together with world renowned music therapist and author Dr. Dorita Berger. Our main idea is that entrainment of neuronal oscillations by non-invasive brain stimulation and by rhythm in music (including its therapeutic applications) may share similar underlying network neuroscience mechanisms. See below for more info on her recent books.
  • We are now enrolling children from 12-30 months with ASD or an older sibling with ASD for a cutting-edge sleep EEG study. You can learn more on our lab website.
  • We are about to receive our TMS with neuronavigation setup. We are hoping to study the synergistic interaction of tACS and TMS.
  • Pulvinar Neuro, our company, has changed strategy and is now selling the complete XCSITE 100 system (tDCS/tACS) for only $4350. This is pretty much an at-cost price - see we are a small company with the only goal to enable high quality tDCS/tACS research (nobody will make money this way!). We hope that this price (which beats our competition by thousands of dollars) reduces the barrier of entrance for more research groups and improves the number of placebo-controlled, double-blind studies.
  • I have started to work on a book with the draft title "Reclaiming our Health and Happiness". My goal is to examine how modern life has affected our health and yes, happiness, and to provide some scientific background plus lots of practical ideas how to regain control. This will be a general readership book!
  • More to come..
It is good to be back and I hope to hear from you to learn your thoughts and ideas. I am looking forward to your comments below!

PS Before I let you go, here is the info on two of Dr. Berger's recent books on children, music therapy, and autism. Finally, if you do not mind, my text book is on sale at Amazon...
